The Music committee is raising funds for a new sound system. If you would like to contribute (over and above your pledged giving), please write “Sound-System” on your check.

Choirs and Musical Opportunities

Music is central to praising God!  We believe the Bible commands us to "Make a joyful noise!"  The Bible also says in Colossians 3:16 to "admonish one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God."

With this admonition in mind, we have designed a music ministry which addresses the needs of many groups of people in our church.  Choirs should not only minister to the congregation who listens and worships, but the choir experience should minister to the singers as well.  Our goal is to strike a balance between worship and performance, between meeting the needs of people and the fundamental edict to praise God, between giving of our best to God and knowing that God loves us, just the way we are.  We have included groups for all ages, and we use an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional church music.

Children's Choirs:

Debbie Davis works with several volunteers to coordinate a program of three children's choirs.

Cherub Choir (ages 3 and 4):

This choir introduces small children to group activities, working together, and the fun of music.  This choir meets Monday afternoons from 2:30-3:00 pm.

Swallowtails (grades K-2):

This group learns more about the inner workings of music -  musical symbols, notes, values, notation, and helps foster a life-long love of church music.  This choir will meet on Monday afternoons, from 3:00-4:00. The church bus provides pick-up from school when the necessary forms are returned to the church office. After school snack is provided. Children may stay till 5:00 until Larks practice is over if necessary.

Larks (grades 3-5):

These older children participate in worship several times during the church year.  They continue their study of music and providing leadership in worship services.  This group meets Monday afternoons from 4:00-5:00.

Youth Choir (grades 6-12):

Our pre-teens and teenagers meet on Monday afternoons from 5:00 to 5:45 pm for choir practice.  They participate in worship services on a regular basis.

Adult Chancel Choir:

John Morgan directs this faithful group who rehearse each Wednesday night at 7:00 PM.  They sing every Sunday in the 11:00 AM service and occasionally in the 9:00 AM service, as well as tackling larger works or programs during the holiday seasons.  New members are always welcome.
